How does the color of grow light affect plant growth

Photosynthesis is the process that plants go through to change light, water and carbon dioxide into glucose and oxygen. Glucose is a type of sugar and is used as a food for the plants. The byproduct of photosynthesis is oxygen. Photosynthesis cannot take place without chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is what makes plants green and allows plants absorb light energy and turn it into food. Since chlorophyll is green, colors on the opposite side of the color spectrum are most efficient for plant growth including red and blue. Light is a type of energy and it varies based on the wavelength of the color. Ultraviolet has the shortest wavelength so it has a higher energy, this is followed by violet, blue, green, yellow, and lastly red which has the longest wavelength and is least energetic. This is important when considering which light to use for plant growth. Since UV light is so energetic, it's actually harmful to plants. And since red light is less energetic, it is less effective when used...

The Best Grow Light For 4×4 grow Tent

图片
The 4 x 4 indoor grow tent is a perfect match for both new growers and experienced growers looking to harvest 6+ medium to large plants every 3 months. The footprint of the 4x4 grow tent fits a 600 to 1000 watt  grow light  (or equivalent) and fits in almost anywhere in a home making it easy to hide away for a secluded grow. Using a grow tent to house your plants is great for keeping them free of outside contaminants, makes for easy odor and heat control, and keeps everything self contained. How to Choose a Grow Light Location Using the artificial light from grow lamps allows you to grow crops year round as space allows indoors. However, your individual situation might require anything from a supplemental light source to extend the daylight your plants already receive to full-cycle lighting in a space with no natural light. When evaluating grow lights, think about where your plants will be located and how much supplemental light they will need to induce photosynthes...

EYE HORTILUX CMH 315 Grow Light VS Sun System CMH LEC 315 Grow Light

What Is A Ceramic Metal Halide Grow Light? First, let’s clear up a point of confusion. I’m sure you’ve seen (even just in this article), several different terms and abbreviations. Ceramic Metal Halide  (CMH) grow lights , Light Emitting Ceramic (LEC) and Ceramic Discharge Metal Halide (CDM) all refer to the same thing. CMH is the most common term. Another point of confusion concerns their relationship to metal halide lights.  CMH bulbs  are a variation of MH bulbs, but they are quite different. Instead of using a quartz tube, they use a ceramic tube (more here), similar to an HPS bulb. This allows a higher arc tube temperature, which in turn allows a better mix of gases to produce a more optimal spectrum (more on this below in the sections comparing CMH to MH and HPS). The light produced by a CMH bulb is much closer to natural sunlight than either MH or HPS (with a CRI of 96). It is, for practical purposes, a perfect combination of MH and HPS in a single bulb. How High Should Grow Lights be Above Plants?

图片
If you’ve spent any time searching for the best height to hang your grow lights, you’ve probably found a bunch of wildly different answers. That’s because it’s impossible to give an exact distance. What I can give you, is a good starting point. From there, you’ll gradually move the lights closer to the canopy, while monitoring your plants closely. This way, you’ll end up finding the sweet spot for your particular garden. That’s the best anyone can do for you. The perfect hanging height depends on so many factors that no one could ever provide an accurate answer. But if you follow the recommendations below, you will have no trouble finding the perfect distance to hang your grow lights above your particular canopy. We’ll begin with LED grow lights, then we’ll cover HID lights, then fluorescent lights, and finally ceramic metal halide. Why do different grow lights need to be hung at different heights? If your indoor garden is supposed to mimic a plant’s natural (outdoor) environ...
