5 TOP Full Spectrum Led Grow Lights Review 2019
Using full spectrum lights for hydroponic and indoor growing
When you decide to start growing cannabis, you probably already have a basic understanding of the way the growing process works. However, there is still sometimes the debate about whether you should grow your plants indoors or outdoors.
Indoor growing has the advantage of complete control of your growing environment. And because you’re not tied to the seasons you can get through more grow cycles in a year. Many growers even claim that with a little practice you can get better yields, faster and with denser more potent and flavorful buds compared to outdoor growing.
If you are thinking of growing marijuana indoors, the best thing you can do is simply give it a go.
If you have been reading our site for any length of time, then you know that hydroponic grow lights are special indoor light lamps that simulate the sun’s rays. And in our opinion these types of led grow lights can help you grow marijuana faster—especially when you use indoor hydroponic growing methods.
What Exactly Are Full Spectrum Grow Lights?
You are probably wondering what sets full spectrum grow lights apart from other forms of lighting.
Well, there are two types of light in the world: visible and ultraviolet light.
The visible light you can see is made up of red, orange, green, yellow, blue, indigo, and violet lights.
Many bulb manufacturers focus on manufacturing lights that give visible light to make their customers happy, but the sun naturally emits light that you cannot see, which is known as ultraviolet light.
Even though ultraviolet light is invisible to the naked eye, plants require it to flourish and grow. Full spectrum increases light and harnesses the power of ultraviolet rays.
Although they are invisible to the naked eye, unlike conventional lights, full spectrum grow lights are a necessity for any indoor grow room.
Things to consider before buying
There are a couple of things you absolutely need to consider before choosing the best LED grow light:
1) Spacing: You absolutely need to ensure that you have an idea of the amount of space you want to cover with your LED lights. Each light has a maximum range of space that it can cover, and it'll be important to understand the measurements of your grow space down to the centimeter. If you currently do not know what that is, you should find out now. After that is done, make sure you read reviews and feedback from others on the actual space that the LED light can cover (sometimes, products are not as advertised... shocking, I know).
2) Brand/Budget/Price: This will be important as the higher-quality lights typically yield the best results. If you are a beginner, you will likely want to start with a lower priced option to get your feet feet wet. If you are more experienced, it never hurts to go with the quality, higher-priced option. In addition, brand and quality of the light is very important. A good brand that has raving customer reviews, is almost always, a sure bet.
3) Spectrum: A full spectrum LED grow light will go a long way in terms of helping your plant growth. You'll need red & blue spectrums, but also infrared and ultraviolet, depending on the stage. It's important to have a powerful light, with different wave lengths to ensure maximum growth. The full spectrum yields are a bit newer to the industry, but they are certainly making headway to any good growers catalog. They run cool and don't need any additional fans, they cost less overtime given the electrical savings, and the durability is second to none. It is highly recommended to purchase a full spectrum LED grow light. Most LED lights have a range of colors being emitted (full light spectrum) - the best lights offer the full range, including UV light.
4) Electrical Usage: Your LED lights will need to have durability and great electrical efficiency as well. A good LED light should be operating for at least 10-12 hours a day. When researching a good LED light, you'll need to thoroughly understand what the total output is (1000w, 400w, 300w etc). The higher you go, the more powerful and more likely leads to less electrical usage (and more cost effective for you).
5) Light Control: Depending on the stage, you'll want to ensure that your plants receive the proper amount of lighting (down to the exact hour). See a breakdown of the phases below for growing LED lights:
Seedling Phase: 16 hours on, 8 hours off
Vegetative Phase: 18 hours on, 6 hours off
Flowering Phase: 12 hours on, 12 hours off
It's extremely important that light cycles are followed to a tee as it can severely alter the growth and potency of your plants.
However, figuring out which hydroponic LED lights work best for marijuana growth can be a bit confusing because there are many lighting options to choose from.
Read on and we’ll help you to choose the best full spectrum LED grow lights for your needs.
VIPARSPECTRA 1200W Full Spectrum LED Grow Light for Indoor Plants Veg and Flower

While starting a project of growing marijuana indoors doesn’t seem like too complicated a project, if you’re going to create nice sized cannabis plants then you need a little beforehand preparation.
Okay, so you usually don’t need a lighting system with more than a thousand watts, which is what the Viparspectra has. But wait, this is an LED lamp that can help you grow any number of cannabis plants you need. It is a 1200W system. And while certainly not a cheap option, it is an effective one—and very competitively priced compared to similar units. It is a system that includes a full spectrum of light for your cannabis plants, which means it has appropriate lighting technology for all growth stages of the plant. All you need to do is adjust the amount of light exposure the plants get during the different growth stages. In the end, this LED light option offers a better solution, as there is no need to change out LED lamps when the plants mature.
COOLING SYSTEM
The Viparspectra has an integrated cooling system which keeps the lamp cool at all times. There are six separate cooling fans built into the tray. This is a very impressive feature as most LED lamps come with less cooling power. For additional temperature control and LED chip longevity, we also see aluminum heat sinks, which further dissipate the heat produced by the lamp, affording a more durable LED lamp system. It is very versatile as it offers a much needed feature that other lamps just don’t have, and is one reason for the upper range in price.
VEG AND BLOOM SWITCHES
Unlike other systems, this LED light lamp offers a way of turning off certain spectrum colors at different growth stages, and it is this feature that allows you to better control the growth between vegetative and flowering stages. While the Viparspectra is rated at 1200W, that does not mean it draws this much energy from the electricity. It just means that this is the wattage of HID lamp it can replace. This system only consumes an average of about 524W of power but produces the same lighting for your plants as a 1200 watts HPS light. Warranty Coverage is also excellent here as this LED lighting system offers a three-year warranty.
Roleadro 1000W LED Grow Light 2nd Generation Series

Roleadro's efforts have paid off after manufacturing a better spectrum light for growing and flowering plants.
The 1000W grow lights emit full spectrum light instead of a single spectrum. This ensures your plants receive even illumination under this grow light.

Strikingly, this light can be used from germination to fruit stage. The full spectrum effectively promotes the synthesis of sugar for plants than the traditional red and blue growing lights.
My favorite thing about this is that the model has also applied the LED bead and zener design rather than a reflector to make sure the lights will work even if some of the LEDs fail to function.
The combination of 90 and 120-degree lenses maximize the light coverage
by creating strong light penetration.
Moreover, Roleadro 1000W LED grow lights include upgraded aluminum cooling heat sinks and advanced high-speed quiet fans that are useful for easy heat dissipation.
This is for indoor growers who want lights that have a less light loss, the lowest working temperature, and longer lifespan.
The model can provide much needed light to a 2x2 space during flowering and a 3x3 indoor grow space during vegetative state. It's actually perfect for beginners or those who only want a small grow.
Again, not all spectrum lights are perfect.
The main drawback of this model is that the lights are not water resistant while the blue lights are not good for your health.
Still, Roleadro 1000W LED grow lights are one of the most affordable full spectrum lights on the market.
It even comes with a double power cord used for power and daisy chain. As a result, two or more 1000W LED grow lights can be connected together with the standard included power cord.
Being able to save power is an enticing factor for me. This can be your best indoor grow light because of its ability to expand the extent of light coverage while saving energy, time, and money at the same time.

The Benefits of LED Lighting
LED lights are relatively new on the market, having been around for just over a decade, but they are quickly becoming the industry standard for hobbyists as well as professional growers. LEDs are super efficient when compared to HID and even CFL lights. They emit almost no heat, which means no wasted energy, even though they are as powerful as the competition in terms of light output. This means that your grow room stays much cooler, reducing the need for inline fans or other ventilation.
Less heat also reduces the amount of water evaporation. This of course reduces the cost and frequency of watering, but also makes it much easier to regulate humidity levels in your garden.
Usually you will find LED grow lights that have a combination of red and blue lights, sometimes yellow as well as Ultraviolet and Infared depending on the size and cost of the light. Flowering and fruiting plants require a slightly different light spectrum for their flowering vs. vegetative stages of growth.
Some of the more sophisticated LED panels have an easy access switch that allows you to select the color ratio depending on what stage your plants are in. If you are growing herbs or lettuces, this added feature is not necessary.
